It’s a very special day here at Merrythought as we celebrate National Teddy Bear Day!  Alongside marking this national event, we are also excited to be unveiling our second teddy bear as part of our partnership with the Royal British Legion.

Introducing The Poppy Bear who has been handcrafted here in our Ironbridge factory to honour 100 years of the charity’s famous Poppy Appeal.

The Royal British Legion Centenary Poppy Bear

Here at Merrythought, we all have our own personal links to the armed forces and reasons for supporting the charity. For our fourth generation managing director, Sarah Holmes, her grandfather Trayton Holmes was a proud serving member of the Royal Air Force before he went on to become Merrythought’s managing director in 1949.

It is such an honour for everyone at Merrythought to be partnering with the Royal British Legion during such a milestone year and we’re all incredibly excited to finally reveal the Poppy Bear.

The beautiful bear is made from rich antique golden mohair, features pure chestnut brown wool felt paws and is finished off with a beautiful red bow which has poppies embroidered on as symbols of hope and remembrance.

Made to a limited edition of 1921 pieces to mark the charity’s founding year, the new Poppy Bear will also be filled with 100 per cent recycled fibre making him that even more special.

The Poppy Bear makes the perfect gift for someone special or as a memento to remember a loved one by. We hope your bear will be a much-loved family member for generations to come.
