Merrythought’s 2023 collection of Year Bears have been designed as stunning mementos of the year, and include a traditional jointed Teddy Bear, Cheeky Bear and Punkie Bear, to make a beautiful collectable trio. Hand-made from dusky-pink and pure white wavy mohair plush, this limited-edition Punkie features pure cotton velvet paws, one of which is neatly embroidered with the iconic Merrythought wishbone motif and ‘2023’. This subtle embroidery is beautifully complemented by traditional wool felt shorts to finish.

Presented in a pure cotton dust bag, with a certificate of authenticity and made to a limited edition of only 150pcs.

Finest Materials

At Merrythought we source only premium materials to lovingly create our teddy bears. The best quality mohair or alpaca plush is selected and neatly cut to each soft toy’s unique set of patterns, many of which are based on original templates from the earliest years. Incorporating other natural fabrics, such as wool felt and cotton, the pieces are expertly worked with traditional needle and thread to form each part of the bear.

British Craftsmanship

The eyes, legs, arms and joints are skilfully sewn and assembled by hand, gradually creating the recognisable characteristics of the Merrythought bear. Taking time to fill the toy to an optimum weight, it is then ready for the finishing touches; a carefully hand-embroidered nose and smile, a thorough brush and trim, and a neatly tied ribbon bow.
