Cheeky bears are simply the nicest bears in the world. They never fail to make me smile. Every baby in our family has one and long may that tradition continue.
I was given my Cheeky Merrythought Bear when I was a few days old in 1962. Edward has been with me ever since, a little worn and patched up here and there, but still with his cheeky smile and wonderful character.Some people make a fuss about Steiff bears but in my opinion there is nothing to compare with a Merrythought Bear ,especially a Merrythought Cheeky. They are the best!
I was bought my cheeky bear in 1974 for my birthday to cheer me up as I had been told I could not have children. I had not heard of his name (cheeky) and called him moonbear as he was nothing like an earthly bear. He has been known as my son for years and will have his 37th birthday on the 29th May. Because he has been so loved he has had to be repaired many times but he is still smiling
When I was born in 1969 a friend of my grandmother's gave me this bear. I was never allowed to play with it. Just recently my mother had me pick a few things up from her house that were mine and this bear was among the items. I knew nothing about it and looked it up finding this site. I am amazed to see that this particular bear is still being made! The look is slightly different but not by much. I plan on getting a case to keep it in and display it proudly!
